The Edge Final Cut
This was my final trailer. It is similar to the second cut, but more perfected and precise. The music fits the edits and thought beats perfectly and so portrays dramatic and deep emotions clearly. Also the dialogue is all loud and clearer than previous cuts as I ducked the sound.
Final Magazine Ancillary
This is my final magazine ancillary. I used the colour scheme of red, pink and white because the red ties in with the stars lips, which re-enforces the main message of secrets but also because it reflects love and danger which again is a main message in my trailer. I used the white colour as it stands out against the star and so is easy to read from a distance. I used two twitter links of @ and # which again re-enforces and attracts the young audience again making it more accesable. I decided to keep the green background to which the photo was originally taken on instead of editing it out on photoshop, as it made the star stand out more and gave more colour and excitement to the magazine. I used words such as 'special' as it makes the audience feel privilaged to be accessable to the magazine, making them buy it.
Final Poster Ancillary
This is my final poster. I chose to make Sienna bigger than the other characters to show the power that she has over them. I also used the white background to make her black clothes stand out, which reflects her dark personality. The use of the strings again shows that the other characters are like puppets, being controlled.

Evaluation Question 4
I used twitter to tweet my teacher and group members for feedback on my work. It was a great way to communicate as it was fast and efficient.
I also set up a facebook group, for my group members only, in which we all had access to anything posted in that group. We posted meeting times to film, things to remember to bring and shared ideas on storylines and costumes for the trailer.
The Edge Rough Cut, Second Draft
This is my second cut of the trailer. It is very different from my first cut. The order of the scenes are different and the choice of shot types are also different, so that the storyline is clearer. Title cards have also been introduced to make the story moer interesting and clearer, with a narrative. However the music is still not fitting to the edits and the dialogue still needs to be louder.
The Edge Rough Cut, First Draft
This was my first draft of my trailer. The reason why it wasnt my final cut, was because it had a few continuety errors and the music didnt fit the beats correctly, which had a big impact on the emotions portrayed.
Audience mood board
I made this audience mood board so that it was clear who my trailer was aimed at. I thought about what other media products my audience might like and what hobbies and other interests they may have. From this I was then able to encorparate some of these into my trailer, so that the audience can relate to it.
First Trial of Ancillary Poster
When making my poster, I researched other types of posters to find conventions.
They consisted of :
- Main star/stars
- Channel
- A catching line, about the story, to get the audience attention
- The name of the show
- The time and date that the show is on
With all these in mind, I put together my poster. I was aiming it from the Hollyoaks poster, as there were no BBC or Waterloo posters available that fitted the conventions. Although the feel of my Waterloo Road poster and the HollyOaks one is very different, the conventions stay the same and so I just adjusted the fonts and picture on my poster to fit my genre accordingly. I put the channel logo in the right hand side, like the HollyOaks poster did. Similarly I put the name of the programme in a bigger font than the time and date, also making sure that it was above the other details. Like the Hollyoaks poster I used a clear main star, which attracted the audience.

Soap Opera Practise. Preliminary task
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSSe_XD5V4I
This was the first trailer I ever tried making. It shows the conventions of a soap trailer and has a variety of shot types. The music also reflects the emotions of the trailer, however it is basic and not as complex as my final trailer, as I had to make it in a shorter period of time and wasnt as practised on the skills needed to make a professional trailer.

Story board for preliminary task
I made a storyboard of the different shot types I wanted to use, and put them in order, so that when it came to editing the trailer, I had a clear idea of what my storyline would look like. However on the story board, I split the story into three seperate main sections. This was not the case when I edited my trailer, as stories co-insided with each other, with different types of cuts and so wasnt as boring and basic.
Dallas example of research
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqsDKf3FZcI&feature=related
This trailer of Dallas is an example I watched and used in my research, to help me form the list of American soap conventions. It also helped me distinguish the audience, shot types and style of dialogue in American soaps so that I knew that in order to aim my trailer at an english audience I had to avoid them.

American Soap Opera Research
I researched American soap operas so that I knew all about the different conventions. As they are very different to English soap operas, I wanted to make sure that I wasnt mixing the conventions up, which would confuse the audience and make my genre not as specific.

Home and Away script example
I researched the different soaps and different ways of script writing, so that when it came to writing my own script I could do it in the most professional and detailed way, which would reflect in my trailer. I chose Home and Away as I had not yet researched that particular soap. I watched a section of an episode repeatedly, making my script as I went along, added more detail to the stage directions, until it clearly reflected the performance on the screen. I found this technique really useful, as I could then apply the skills when making and preparing my trailer. My trailer script is found in my 'planning and preparation for final trailer' presentation.

Eastenders, soap analysis
I watched an episode of Eastenders as part of my research into English soap operas and so by printscreening specifc camera shots and analysing them, it helped me understand the type of shots and reasons for doing so, in my final piece.
Made in Chelsea research
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1SyNyDoj8M
I based my trailer on Made in Chelsea. I used a variety of Made in Chelsea episodes and trailers to help me understand the conventions and style of scripted reality soap and upper class soaps. I then could use and portray them in my soap.

Soap Trailer Research
I watched and analysed an episode of Hollyoaks so that I could comapare my results to the types of conventions used in Eastenders, which shows a less glamourous lifestyle. I decided that I prefered the glamourous Hollyoaks idea but it still wasnt exactly what I wanted. So I researched the scripted reality soap, Made In Chelsea.
Soap Opera Research
I did this research so that I had a clear overview of the genre and type of product I would be aiming towards.
